Another blow to the Albanian mafia in Ecuador. Following the capture of Albanian drug boss Dritan Gjika in the United Arab Emirates, police and Marina seized three tonnes of cocaine at a farm in Chongón, a parish of Guayaquil, on July 3, 2025, Report Tv, reports. Periscope.
According to police, drugs were hidden in a cattle farm, which is believed to be one of the front companies used by the Albanian mafia in the country.
Drugs were found in rectangular packages and in a truck loaded with bananas during an operation conducted early Thursday morning.
“identified a property operating under the mask of a cattle farm. Inside was a truck containing banana boxes and white substance” was found, Colonel Víctor Hugo Ordóz said.
After the property raid, five people were arrested, believed to be part of a criminal organisation linked to the Albanian mafia. The truck carrying bananas and drugs was sent to the Guayaquil police station to be examined.
In 2024, during the Pampa case, the Albanian mafia's method in Ecuador was discovered, including the involvement of banana exporter companies.
Usually, drug shipments controlled by drug dealer Dritan Gjika from the United Arab Emirates were sent abroad through one of Guayaquil's ports, with Europe's destination.
