Man bones discovered in Brecoc in Gjakova, allegedly missing persons during the war

According to the police report, during excavations conducted on July 30th 2025, human bones have been discovered, allegedly belonging to at least one person missing during the 1998-1999 war in Kosovo.
The remains have been withdrawn from the scene and sent to the Legal Medicine Institute for forensic examination and possible identification through forensic analysis.
Authorities will continue with investigations to identify the victim and clarify the circumstances of extinction.
The “Sector for investigating missing persons during the war, in co-ordination with the Legal Medicine Institute and the Government Commission for Missing Persons, in 30.07.2025, have carried out the execution of a court ordinance for extradition to the Bikova Brecot cemetery. During excavations at the suspected site, human bones have been encountered, with forensic interest allegedly belonging to at least one (1) individual, missing during wartime in Kosovo.
