AV ONET says that “this attack on Chief Prosecutor Isufaj, at the time he has launched investigations into allegations of abuses in certain public tenders and public money management, poses a serious threat to the justice system, the functioning of the legal state and efforts to combat corruption in Kosovo”.
“also, deignive statements by Kosovo government officials towards the Supreme Court's decision in the case of fiscal cases are unacceptable and violate the independence of judicial power. State institutions, instead of guaranteeing law enforcement and respect for judicial decisions, are using irresponsible political rhetoric with backlogs”, it said in the reaction of this NGO network.
AV The ONET has called on the Prosecutor to investigate immediately and without compromise any threats or pressure on the chief prosecutor and prosecutors dealing with sensitive cases.
Likewise, Kosovo Government officials have invited officials to refrain from statements that promote distrust of justice institutions and respect their independence.
“Fighting corruption cannot be carried out without an independent and incorruptible justice system. Any attempt to intimidate or discredit him is a direct attack on democracy and civic interest”, he said. AVONET.
