Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump's latest statements -- including the tariff threat to states buying Russian exports -- are serious and should be analysed, Reuters wrote.
Trumpi had announced on Monday, during a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte, that he would send sophisticated weapons towards Ukraine, as well as warned that he would place <x0tarife” on countries that buy Russian goods and services, if Russia is reluctant to end the war in Ukraine.
Asked about recent developments, Peskov said that “these statements of the American president are very serious, and that some of them are personally addressed to President Putin”.
Of course we need time to analyze what was said in Washington. And if President Putin sees the need to respond, then he will absolutely offer his comments”, Peskov added, writes time.net.
While referring to news of new arms shipments to Kiev, the Kremlin's spokesman has stressed that the “decisions being made in Washington, to NATO countries and directly to Brussels are being perceived by the Ukrainian side, not as a signal for peace, but as a signal to continue the” war.
He has reiterated the position that Russia is ready to continue direct negotiations with Ukraine, and that it is still waiting for Kiev's signals on when the third negotiating round can be developed. /Periscope/
