US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the United States will set a 25% fee for goods imported from India starting on August 1st.
He said that India, which has the fifth largest economy in the world, would also face an uncontested punishment on August 1st, but did not elaborate on the amount or what it served, Reuters reports.
“While India is our friend, we, over the years, have done relatively little business with them because their tariffs are very high, among the highest in the world, and they have the most difficult and annoying non-manitary trade barriers from any country”, Trump wrote in a post at the Social Truth.
