“Albania does not stop”, with those words Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the decision by ambassadors of the 27 European Union countries to open negotiations for the fifth chapter with Albania, which includes Agriculture and Cohesion.
Rama confirmed that the Danish EU presidency has received authorisation to invite Albania to submit its negotiating position regarding the latest chapters.
“Today, on July 23rd 2025, following Albania's continued and dynamic progress on the road to membership negotiations in the European Union, the European Union's Committee of Member States authorised the Danish Presidency to invite Albania to submit its Negotiatory position for negotiations on chapters that make up the 5/04 Group, Agriculture and Cohesion. ”, Rama writes.
It is also expected that early September the sixth intergovernmental conference will be held to mark the final opening of all chapters aimed at Albania's full membership in 2030.
Prime Minister Rama has often stated that it aims to complete negotiations by 2027, as well as full EU membership by 2030. /Periscopi/
