As a result of the quick and co-ordinated response of police facilities, based on information provided on operational roads, over the past 72 hours have been identified, captured, arrested or prosecuted by 12 suspected citizens as perpetrators of arson in several counties in the country.
The arrests have occurred in Tirana, Durres/Shijak, Fier, Vlora, Saranda, Gjirokastra, Kurbin, Debar, Shkodra, Polican, Belsh/Cerrik.
State Police General Director Ilir Proda has passed all local structures on alert, with clear orders for intensifying preventive, investigative and penal measures on any case of intentional arson or caused by carelessness.
State police appeal all residents that in no case light fire, because they will face the force of law.
Citizens also need to take maximum care, especially not to throw on cigarettes lit along the streets, as they can cause fire.
