AKK: Nagavci almost a year without a meeting with Municipal Education Directors

The Municipal Education Directors College under the Kosovo Association of Commons (AKK) at its latest meeting expresses deep concern for the lack of communication and institutional co-operation on the part of Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Arberie Nagavcin, Periscopi reports. According to them, almost a year has not [...]
According to them, almost a year has not held a meeting with municipal education leaders, who are the main actors in implementing educational policies on the ground.
Sahan Ibrahimi from the AKK said this exclusive approach seriously undermines the effort to build a functional, fair and qualitative education system, and poses a direct obstacle to addressing the many challenges facing municipalities.
During the latest meeting of the AKK-organised College for Education, the biggest challenges in the country, were discussed openly and professionally.
Some of the most urgent issues are:
• Slow bureaucratic procedures for replacing and employing educators, which are causing continued shortages in the learning process.
• The non-adequent funding formula, which does not reflect the different realities and needs of municipalities, creating inequality in the quality of education delivery.
• Implementation of the Kolektive contract, which has generated unaffordable financial burdens for municipalities, often leading to privatisations and budgetary paralysis.
The College for Education reaffirmed willingness to co-operate with AugustI, but this co-operation cannot be developed in bias, isolation and ignoring the role of municipalities.
They have called on Nagavci to urgently call a meeting with municipal education leaders, to listen closely to real challenges and to build together concrete solutions.
Education cannot be managed by the office, without consultation and no matter what reality on the ground, they say.
