Agim Ceku and nine others guilty, war organisations: Unacceptable Decision

The Veterans' Association, the Association of Invalids and the Association of Familys of KLA Witnesses has come out in reaction following the decision of the “Vinteran”, Periscope reports.

The response is said to be unreasonable and unacceptable.

The issue is said to continue to oppose the involvement of undeserved persons on war veterans' lists.

They also call for each evental review of veterans' lists to be done with extraordinary care.

SPRECITION SICKES OF OVL, SHIL AND SHFD OF KLA, regarding today's decision by the Founding Court in Pristina.

The Veterans' Association, the Association of Invalids and the Association of Familys of KLA Witnesses have carefully followed today's Constitutional Court decision in Pristina and re-exert their steadfast and principled position: we have been and remain flatly opposed to the involvement of undeserved persons in war veterans' lists.

Protecting the legal and moral status of the true Kosovo Liberation Army is fundamental and non-negotiable issues for us, because it is closely linked to the historic right of our liberation war, to the sacrifice and contribution given to our freedom and the dignity of our state.

As for today's trial, through which the court has convicted members of the Government Commission for Verification of the Status of War Veterans, we express our serious reserves. This decision, according to our assessment, is unreasonable and unacceptable in both legal and logical terms.

It is understandable that the court, instead of seeking to establish a new professional commission to review over 19,500 suspected cases, did otherwise, first convicted members of the existing commission and only later instructed Government to launch a verification process. Such an approach overturns basic principles of law and increases doubts for other purposes beyond legitimacy.

Moreover, we express our deep concern and distrust in the legal competence and political legitimacy of this government in office to undertake such a significant and important process for the country's history and for categories that have shouldered the liberation of the country.

Each evental review of veterans' lists should be done with extraordinary care, on clear legal grounds and with full institutional responsibility. This process cannot be carried out unilaterally, politically influenced or with disrepute purposes against the just war of our people.
