Kosovo police on Saturday have arrested a person in northern Mitrovica, suspected of criminal activity “Fireworking”.
The case occurred on July 26th, about 15:55, in the district of “Minors' Framework”, where a fire threatened several residences and vehicles.
“due to the rapid reaction of police units and firefighters, the fire was located and extinguished without causing major damage”, police have announced.
After the investigation, police have provided a video of a person watching a fire on purpose. The suspect has been identified as Mr.M., 42, and has been arrested in his home. At the order of the state prosecutor, he has been detained for 48 hours and will be investigated for criminal work “Firework”.
Police have called on citizens to avoid lighting fires in open spaces, especially during the summer months, warning that such actions endanger life, property and the environment. Police also encourage immediate reporting of similar cases in the 192 emergency number.
