The Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore (MPJD) on Friday has confirmed that the Belgrade Supreme Court of War Crimes Department, on July 24th 2025, has declared the 30-day detention measure to Kosovo citizens Lulzim Halili.
Halili was arrested on July 22nd by Serbian authorities and, according to the Belgrade Supreme War Crimes Prosecutor's announcement, is being charged with “organising and promoting war crimes and genocide”, based on Article 145, paragraph 2 and Article 1 of the Penal Code of Is h - RSPJ.
The ministry announced that, after confirming the launch of criminal proceedings against Halil, the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia will immediately hand over official request to the tribunal to visit him at the Pre-prisonment Centre.
Because it's already confirmed that against Mr. Halili has initiated criminal procedure, the Interconnecting Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Serbia will immediately submit formal application to the Belgrade Supreme Court, the War Crimes Department, to visit him at the Centre for Pre-prisonment of this tribunal, where it is currently being held. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora will continue to closely follow the case and keep public opinion on any further development, said the report further.
