The Kosovo Police Union has welcomed and welcomed the Appeals Court's decision regarding the case against the five police officials at the Lipjan station, for which the detention measure was imposed under suspicion of criminal activity “murders by carelessness”, in the case of 27-year-old Agon Zejrullahu. The SPK says that this decision of the Court [...]
The SPK says that this decision by the Court of Appeals, which annuls the Constitutional Court's decision and turns the matter into restoration, is an important step towards respecting the principles of justice and the regular legal process.
“The decision also stresses the lack of full analysis of relevant and reliable evidence, underlining the need for objective and impartial access in any case involving officials of rank”, reportedly further in the report, broadcasts Periscope.
The Kosovo Police's “Sindicate expresses its deep concern over the irresponsible and biased way of reporting from some written and electronic media, which even after the decision of the Court of Appeals continue to use stigmatizing languages, naming this case as “suicide” without any evidence, or final trial or judicial decision. These actions not only conflict with the professional ethics of journalism but also jeopardise public perception of a key security institution -- Kosovo Police”.
Given the announcement, the SPK calls on all justice institutions to act with full professionalism, impartiality and integrity, not allowing external influences, especially media pressure, which violates civic trust and damages the justice process itself.
“Once upon a time, the SPK appeals to all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo not to fall prey to groundless dezinforms and labels. Kosovo police are and remain in the service of the order, law and Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, ensuring the safety of each citizen in every corner of the country. The SPK will always stand in defense of the rights of Kosovo police and integrity officials, demanding full responsibility for any efforts intended to tarnish or damage this vital institution for functioning of the rule of law”, the report said.
