Seventeen states, plus the Arab League with 22 member states and the European Union signed a seven-page text for which reconciliation was reached at a United Nations conference on the revival of two-nation settlement for Israel and Palestinians, the paper writes. “The Times of Israel”.
The New York Declaration presents a phased plan to end the nearly 8-decade conflict and ongoing war in Gaza. The plan would culminate in an independent and demilitarised Palestine in peaceful co-existence along with Israel, as well as their eventual integration into the wider Middle East region.
Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, opposes two states' solution and has rejected this meeting for nationalist and security reasons. The United States, Israel's close allies, has also boycotted the meeting, calling it <x0-productive and at the wrong time”.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon late Tuesday criticised the 125 states that participated in the conference, saying that the “world are the ones fighting terrorists and extremist forces and then there are those who close their eyes to them or choose domestication”.
At this conference, which was postponed in June and had lowered the level of representation by leaders in ministers, eight high-level working groups were established for the first time to examine and make proposals about the subjects of a broad range related to a two-state solution.
“In the context of the end of the war in Gaza, Hamas must end its powers in Gaza and deliver his weapons to the Palestinian Authority, with international commitment and support, in line with the goal of an independent and sovereign state of” the statement said.
