Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has dismissed Russia's proposal for a two-to-three-day interim ceasefire, calling it a tactic to buy time and avoid new US sanctions.
In a direct statement, Zelensky said Moscow's real goal is not humanitarian but political.
I think they're fools because a ceasefire aims to stop the victims, not manipulate with the time and international pressure,” he said.
The head of the Ukrainian state stressed that Ukraine stands in its original demands: a full and unconditional ceasefire, exchange of prisoners, return of civilians and kidnapped children, as well as preparation for a high-level meeting among leaders.
Zelensky urged the US not to delay the new package of sanctions against Russia, underlining that economic pressure is the only way Moscow understands. He stressed that three months have passed since the first signal of a full ceasefire Ukraine has supported. /Periscopi/
