The American media sheds light on the role of Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali in counterfeiting documentation for transferring property to the military complex in Belgrade, which was bombed in 1999 by NATO forces.
This project envisioned the collapse of the military complex and the construction of a luxury hotel complex in that country.
The Serbian authorities and the company “Affinity Partners”, which is owned by Jared Kouchner, U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law.
According to documents provided by “The York Times”, there was a preliminary agreement that envisioned the transition of ownership of this complex into private hands after building the project.
The event has taken a significant turn after the arrest of the director of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Serbia, who is accused of forging documents that allowed the passage of protected status of this object.
After this development, the lawyer of “Affinity Partners”, Ian Brekke, immediately travelled to Belgrade to investigate the situation.
At meetings with Serbian officials, they tried to explain the event as an administrative error, but Kouchner ordered a full investigation, which is still under way.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has refused to comment on this issue, while Mali has avoided any statements, relying on the secret of the investigation.
This has sparked criticism from the opposition and civil society, which require transparency and responsibility for this suspicious project.
This case has attracted American public attention and raised concerns about the influence of American politics on such international projects, linking this event to the period when Trump was president and Kouchner had an important role in American foreign policy. /Periscopi
