The wife of former NJSO police official Arbnor Spahiu, Arieta Spahiu, has said her husband is currently in poor emotional condition with the process she is now facing for eight days where she has been banned by Serbia's authority. Spahiu says Prime Minister Kurti has discussed that her husband's case be not politicised.
Former police official of NJSO, Arbnor Spahiu, who was banned by Serbian authorities, is accused of involvement in the Banjska case.
Arbnor Spahiu's wife, Arieta, says they have had a meeting with incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who says she has asked him not to politicise the case.
“Yes, meeting with Prime Minister Kurti was important and necessary, especially in this sensitive period. We discussed recent political developments and the need for all institutions to act on the principles of the rule of law. I stressed the importance of transparency and avoiding any political influence on judicial processes, including my husband's case”, said Arbnor Spahiu's wife.
Spahiu in an interview for Tv1 stressed that they are concerned as a family, with the way the Serbian authorities handle the case.
So far, what we know is that he's in custody. Lawyers are following all legal ways and we expect justice to act professionally and impartially. As a family, we are concerned about how this process is taking place. We haven't even talked to him physically before the court in Subotic. His physical condition is stable, but he is emotionally in a difficult situation. Standing in custody without convincing evidence is hard on everyone. He has expressed his dissatisfaction with this treatment and the lack of legal clarity in the process”, she said.
Asked whether they have information about Albanian witnesses against Arbnor Spahiu, he claims they should deal with the reservations and professionalism of any person, and be the right process of judgment.
“These are serious questions that require clear answers from relevant institutions. If there is evidence involving such witnesses, then it should be carefully examined whether we are dealing with a correct process or with a gear built for other purposes. We do not require privileged treatment, but we want the law to be applied fairly and equally to all. If his case is being used for political purposes, this is unacceptable and dangerous for the very functioning of justice”, Spahiu indicated.
Meanwhile, Police Director Gazmend Hoxha has confirmed that they have submitted documents to Serbian authorities for Arbnor Spahiun, which the same has not been part of the operation in Banjska on 24 September of 2023.
According to the Kosovo Police, the same is not part of them by 2022. /Periscopi
