US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth begins the press conference at the Pentagon saying that the last night's attacks were designed to “degrad” and “destroyed Iran's” nuclear capabilities.
He says the “attack destroyed” Iranian nuclear programme, but did not affect Iranian troops or civilians.
Hegseth goes on to say that many presidents “dreamt of giving a final blow to Iran's nuclear programme, but no one could reach Trump”.
He adds that the Iran operation was “bold and brilliant”, the BBC reported, broadcast the Express.
When President Trump speaks, the world must listen to”, he says, adding that no other “anywhere but the US could have done this”.
President Trump said no nuclear weapons, he wants peace and Iran should follow that” path, Hegseth says.
Hegseth then reads Trump's posts on social media from last evening, which warned that any revenge from Iran would face a much larger “ ”.
