The war between Ukraine and Russia is taking place not only on the ground front, but also on airspace, where both sides are aiming at strategic goals with mutual attacks.
Recently, satellite images have revealed that Ukrainian forces have crashed a Russian spy plane Beriv A-50, an advanced monitoring and air control platform. This aircraft is a valuable tool for the Russian Army, as it is used for detection, co-ordination of air operations, and data collection for enemy targets.
Based on the body of aircraft Il-76, Beriev A-50 is equipped with powerful radar that can detect long-term targets. Russia owns a limited number of this guy's planes. According to international media, including the portal BTH, the recently crashed plane was hit at Ivanovo air base on Russian territory, writes A2 CNN.
It's not the first time Russia loses an A-50. In January 2024, such a plane crashed into the Azov Sea under unclear circumstances.
The latest attack comes under the Ukrainian offensive against Russian air bases, where strategic bombers such as Tu-95, Tu-22 and Tu-160 are stationed for extensive attacks on Ukraine. /Periscope/
