Turkey against US attacks, Iran thanks Serbia for staying on war with Israel

Working in Iran's embassy, Mohammed Mahdi Abad, thanked Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucinac, today for his stance that the US violated international law with the attack on Iran. Vuciq stated yesterday that there is no doubt that the US has violated international law with the attack on Iran, adding that both Israel and Iran are friendly people for Serbia and that it wants peace in the Near East and Middle East.

I don't understand why they didn't solve this through diplomacy”, Vuciq said.

Mahdi Abad, today in a conversation with reporters at the Iranian Embassy in Belgrade, thanked all countries that condemned the US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, including Serbia, China and Russia, but added that Iran, while thankful, is based exclusively on itself and its people.

He added that all negotiations are based on mutual trust and that continuing talks on Iran's nuclear programme will depend on further US behaviour.

We have always made good intentions in negotiations with the US and Western countries, but recent attacks have exacerbated the atmosphere”, he said, Danas.

We were in negotiations when our side was attacked, we had not expected this”, he added.

Iran has continued to enrich uranium after the US, during Donald Trump's first mandate, withdrew unilaterally from the deal with world powers. Now enrichment has reached 60%, while for nuclear weapons it takes 90%. Israel, although possessing such weapons, describes Tehran's actions as existential threats.

The issue is currently the subject of interrupted negotiations between Tehran and Washington, with Oman's mediation aimed at curbing the Iranian nuclear programme.

World powers reached agreement with Tehran in 2015, under which Iran agreed to limit uranium enrichment in exchange for lifting economic sanctions. Inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency were tasked with monitoring the programme.

Mahdi Abad told Serbian reporters that Iran's right to enrich uranium is not subject to negotiations and that it will have nuclear programme, which it described as destined for peaceful purposes. He stressed that Iran has all the technology and knowledge necessary, and if he wanted to, he would already have built a nuclear bomb.

He said that, according to data from Iranian surveillance agencies, there have been no radiation following Sunday's American attacks.

The nuclear question is not a matter of equipment or materials, but of knowledge. As much as the objects are damaged, with Iran's knowledge, everything will be rebuilt”, he added.

The Iranian official said the ceasefire agreement, requested by US President Donald Trump, was oral and achieved through intermediaries, and that Iran respects it, but will react if it is violated by the other side.

He dismissed speculations about the opposition of the regime by the Iranian people, saying the people are united against external aggression.

Previous protests, according to him, were directed for reforms and not against the system or political order.

Both “shaque” and “media component” described the Iranian Chessman's statement that he is ready to take power after the fall of ajatolah Ali Khamenei.

This is the request of a small minority living outside Iran”, he said.

He said a meeting between the president of Serbia and Iran is not officially planned, and when asked about news that Serbia has banned ammunition exports, he said it does not get involved in other countries' internal affairs.

The Iranian Embassy, he added, has no information on whether and how many Serbian citizens have been evacuated from Iran after the recent escalation. /Periscope/
