Trump said Serbia was ready to enter the war “with a group” and added that a friend of his has told him that they would go back into the war with Kosovo, but that that this happened because “we stopped”.
This is an extraordinary progress. Within just a few months, we have achieved peace between India and Pakistan, Israel and Iran and between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, as well as some others as well. Serbia, you know, was about to go to war with a group. I'm not gonna mention it, because it didn't happen. But I have a friend in Serbia, and he told me: “we're going back to war”. And I don't want to mention it's Kosovo, but it's Kosovo. They would start a big war, but we stopped it. We stopped him because of the trade. They want to trade with the United States. I told them: we don't trade with people who go into war”, Trump said.
On this topic Trump has spoken even during a media conference on June 27th, saying he has threatened Serbia with a halt to trade with the United States of America, as it was at risk that the Serbian state would attack Kosovo and a big “war” would occur.
We've done a lot of work. I don't know if there's any president who worked harder than me. Serbia, Kosovo, would go towards it, it would be a big war. I said if that happens, you won't trade with the United States. And they said, look, maybe we won't go to it. This happened to India and Pakistan”, he said.
Trump has recently mentioned Kosovo and Serbia several times with the claim that it has halted the conflict.
