The two countries are expected to work together in systems to capture the opening threats, and Tokyo's participation could serve to win concessions in ongoing customs negotiations with Washington, Nikkei said, without citing its sources.
Donald Trump said this month that he had chosen design for the $175 billion planned defence shield and appointed American Space Forces General Michael Gitlain to lead the project, which he wants to complete by the end of his mandate in 2029, Reuters reported.
The Congress Budget Office estimated that “Golden Cup” could cost $831 billion.
