Accepting new evidence in the case against former KLA leaders, indicted for war crimes, has also postponed the handover of the defence motion on these charges.
Hashim Thaci's defence, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi had planned this Monday to hand over the motion for dropping charges.
As confirmed by Dukagjin, Thaci's defence attorney, Luka Misethic, the motion will be submitted by June 12th.
The chairman of the court has decided on a trial of several international reports, and evidence linking them to victims involved in the indictment.
These trials, according to the prosecution, reinforce evidence of mistreatment and torture against the detainees until the defense of the accused had opposed the same.
While according to the lawyer accredited by the Special Court, Taulant Hodaj these cases cannot influence the extension of the judicial process further, Dukajni reports.
“I believe that the court will be carried out before June and eventually starting in July because vacations are in August, and start listening to witnesses of the victims' defender, of the defenders of the accused, but it may not happen to me this and starting after the holidays, and they are more or less within the deadlines and predictions when it took place two years ago.” said Taulant Hodaj.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office has concluded with the presentation of evidence for this case on 15 April this year. After that, changes in the measure of security was required, against those accused and who, according to lawyer Hodaj, have influenced several factors not to happen.
The “may especially have impacts on those in custody, because the prosecution can logically use that there is not enough security for police to stop protesters and leave them with it to assure the accused, this could logically affect changing a security measure.”, Hodaj concluded. Visiting Kosovo, then came Special Court Chairman Ekaterina Trendafilova, who cancelled a planned meeting with the media due to the KLA veterans' protest. /Periscope/
