The Vetevendosje Movement, like the first party to emerge from the February 9th 2025 elections, insists on Albulen Haxhiu's candidacy for the post of Speaker of the Parliament, though it failed to secure the necessary majority of votes in either of the previous 24 attempts.
Vetevendosje insists that the vote take place secretly -- a request that has faced fierce opposition from other parties that have boycotted the process, considering this procedure contrary to constitutional spirit and parliamentary practice -- follows Periscope.
AAK MP Beque Berisha recently praised the situation “to regret”, stressing that such institutional problems, historically, have only been solved by international interference.
“The only hope has remained with the Constitutional Court, or another invitation of political parties that it was meant to happen by the president. I'm sorry about the citizens, the people, from you, we can't come to a solution. This is a long time ago, it looks like we're about to have to shoot embassies and so that never these politicians, or we as politicians, could have been given orientation to political moments, but we've been ready. It's only sad, if you don't think it's a deputy that's not going to be able to, like, close or skilled enough to bring in the delegate's men.
While, MP PDK, Nat Hasani, displayed open pessimism over the possibility of overcoming the institutional stalemate, stressing that only a decision by the Constitutional Court can resolve the stalemate.
I don't think I'm going to change anything, we don't notice the party leaders or the street walks or the street gossip. I believe it's still the same, without a Constitutional Court ruling coming, I don't believe there will be any change or there will be any changes”, Hasani said.
On the other hand, VV deputy Albin Kurti accused other parties of “pataricalism” over refusing to vote in Haxhiu as chief parliament.
“... This situation reflects confrontation with hierarchical, patriarchal, backward structures. As long as we as Government engage for days so that women are entrusted with different leadership positions, opposition deputies are not doing so in the Assembly.” he said.
