The thermal power plant units “Kosovo A” out of office, KEK announces disruption and remont

According to a media communiqué, the disruption has been caused by fluctuations in the electrical system, which has activated the generator's defence system and caused automatic wake-up disruption.

Also, KEK has informed that the A5th unit of the same thermal power plant has stopped on June 18th 2025, at 00:02, following a warning of a water loss in the furnace. Despite efforts to keep it in operation, the decision to cut off work was made to avoid any greater independence.

Meanwhile, the A4th TC unit Kosova A is currently in regular remonting since May 16th 2025.

The KEC has stressed the commitment of management to seriously cope with the situation and has indicated that all necessary technical and organisational measures are being taken to restore the entities to function as soon as possible. Co-operation with key energy sector actors has been put into operation to resolve this situation.

The corporation provides public opinion that it aims to establish a high standard of responsibility and accountability at all operating levels as a key element for ensuring stability and credibility in energy supply. /Periscope/
