Who's testing the Book Bridge? Kastrati: It's ridiculous not to let the Government know about this case.

Invited to the “Five” show at RTV Dukagjini, General Kadri Kastrati, retired KSF General, has commented on reports of the last test bridge over the Iber River in Mitrovica.

He recalled that even last year tests were made by the Government, claiming that the bridge would be opened for circulation, but after NATO, Brussels and KFOR intervention, the actions were halted.

I find this very funny, but I can say that perhaps someone from outside has come who is testing bridges in here and the Government of Kosovo does not know”, Kastrati said.

According to him, it is unacceptable that the government is unaware of such moves when Kosovo Police, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Mitrovica municipalities themselves have full capacity to control any activity in the area.

We have state police who at any moment know what happens and especially there. Let's not talk about the Ministry of Infrastructure or Deputy Minister of Infrastructure not knowing. This is not serious for me”, he said. General Kastrati demanded more transparency and institutional co-ordination on such issues that have high political sensitivity and certainly symbolic in the country's north.

Otherwise, Deputy Infrastructure Minister Hysen Durmishi has declared he is unaware of the nature of the works currently under way on the bridge.

“According to the data we have as minister, tests for the bridge's stability were completed last year, and results have confirmed that the bridge is in very stable condition. Currently, I have no additional information on the activities being developed”, Durmish stated.

From Telegraph sources it is taught that inspections are being conducted by experts contracted by the European Union (BE), which is the main funder of construction and the revising of this bridge.

According to the same sources, the purpose of these works is precisely technical inspection and maintenance of the bridge under EU-backed projects.
