The Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo has filed charges against defendants D. R, for criminal work “wage war against civilian population”.
Sanctioned under Article 142 of RSFJ Penal Law, in effect during the time of the conduct of criminal acts.
The investigations confirmed that during the May 7th10th period, 1999, in the town of Gjakova, the defendant has participated in the wide and organised attack of Serbian military, police and paramilitary forces against the Albanian civilian population, acting in co-ordination with other persons. The D.R. is accused of killing three Albanian civilians, who were later physically mistreated, for the violent expulsion of the Albanian civilian population from their neighbourhoods, looting and destroying houses in some neighbourhoods in the town of Gjakova.
The Act is based on evidence of victims and eyewitnesses, identifying the defendants through photographs, reports of the Institute of Legal Medicine, and other materials collected during the investigation.
The defendant is currently in custody, while the Special Prosecutor has proposed continuing custody due to the risk of escape.
