Aggression in the absence of war crimes against J.J. and V. T
Pristina, June 30th, Special Prosecutorship has filed charges in the absence of indictees J.J. and V.T for criminal acts “The purpose of fighting against the civilian population”, sanctioned under Article 142 of the RSFJ Criminal Law, in effect during the time of the conduct of the criminal work.
Defendant J. J and V.T are charged with war crimes during the 1998-1999 period in the village of Sotranik Old, in the municipality of Soganic.
According to the indictment, the defendants in co-ordination with other members of Serbian police and military forces have carried out the murder of two victims of the R.E. and M.H.
Investigations confirmed that during this period, J.J. and V.T. have beaten up, caused physical and psychic abuse, and have looted St. D and victims, now the deceased M.H. and R. E.
In support of Article 234 and 303 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Special Prosecutorate has proposed to the Constitutional Court in Pristina to hold trial in absentia because indictees J.J. and V.T are unable to manage justice organs.
The Special Prosecutor remains committed to prosecuting crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, ensuring justice for the victims and putting the leaders of these acts accountable, in line with international standards.
