His defence lawyer has argued in demanding violations of the deadlines, as he has not received a two-month SPAK track record of conducting investigations.
On June 9th, the Special Prosecutor extended the three-month investigation of Meta, a decision the former president's defender has warned he would complain, calling it illegal.
Meta, along with former wife Monica Kryeary, is accused of passive corruption, money laundering and hiding property. He was arrested on October 21st, 2024 in Tirana's entry during his return from Kosovo, in an arrest that was accompanied by viral images of violence during association.
On May 27, 2025, SPAK formalised charges against him, including the “case CE Z-DIA” and U.S. SMI lobe. Investigations follow, while Meta requires a softer security measure.
