“If the European Union does not take concrete measures to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza within the next two weeks, we, along with other countries with the same opinion, will take measures to exert real pressure on Israel”, Slovenia's prime minister, Robert Golob, said.
Gorob, in the margins of the EU leaders' summit in Brussels, expressed readiness to act in a short term and stressed that for long The EU cannot “predict” anymore for rule of law due to inadequate response to crimes occurring in Gaza.
Unfortunately, some states, even those important ones, put their interests ahead of human rights”, he said.
In the conclusions of the published EU summit, European leaders condemned the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, called for an immediate ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages.
They also called on Israel to fully respect its obligations under international law and ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers, as well as civil infrastructure, including UN hospitals, schools and facilities.

By contrast, since Israel began its military campaign in Gaza in 2023, over 56,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 100,000 have been injured, mostly women and children.
Israel is currently facing a genocide indictment at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza, where at least 1.9 million Palestinians remain displaced and face significant food shortages, medicines and other basic needs. / TRT Balkan/ Periscope.
