Images published by emergency services showed parts of a building turned into rubble and considerable damage in nearby buildings.
A large number of emergency workers are on the scene.
Israeli police said officers and units for bomb disposal were at the site where the ammunition had fallen in central Israel.
A city official in the northern town of Haifa also confirmed a crackdown in the city.
Israeli emergency services had earlier said they were headed towards at least 10 locations following the latest wave of Iranian missile attacks.
“Search Forces- Rescues are operating in several areas across the country where reports of rockets were received”, the Israeli Army said.
