These will be the first sanctions the EU will lift Kosovo

The incumbent government is expecting the European Union to, under the gradual removal of sanctions, begin with the functioning and holding of subcommittee meetings of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Kosovo, as well as with technical assistance projects for the Western Balkans, affecting areas such as energy, infrastructure and other ones. [...]
Such is confirmed by the European Union for Kosovo itself, but stress that further steps for the full removal of the measures will depend, according to them, on a sustainable de- escalation in the country's north.
The gradual removal of the measures is good news for Klisman Cadiun, adviser to incumbent Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, who shows what the first measures will be taken. However, he adds that they must be completely removed as soon as possible, since they have been wrongly decided.
The EU imposed punitive measures against Kosovo in 2023, following increasing tensions in the country's north.
The “Massat towards Kosovo were wrongly deployed in late June of the first two years. We have also received a recommendation from former High Representative Josep Borrell for the removal of almost a year. It is good news, though delayed, that the European Union has begun removing punitive measures against Kosovo. As has been communicated by High Representative Kaya Callas, they are gradually being removed. For our part, we re-focus that measures should be removed as early and completely. Under this process, the EU will soon begin with the functioning and holding of SAA subcommittee meetings with Kosovo, as well as with technical assistance projects for the Western Balkans, including areas such as energy, infrastructure and other”, it says in its written response to Kosova Preris.
Meanwhile, the European Union's spokeswoman, Anita Hyper, declares for Kosovo that the European Commission has taken the first steps towards lifting some measures.
It states that further steps for the full removal of measures will depend on progress on the ground in line with EU expectations for the situation in the north.
“in December 2024, the Council said the EU would gradually remove the measures, parallel to Kosovo's further steps for reducing tensions in the north. In this direction, the Commission has already taken the first steps towards removing some of the measures. Future steps depend on progress on the ground and are conditioned on a sustainable de-progression in the north”, she emphasises. /Periscopi/
