“Stone, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in attacks against Iran, and our top priority is the protection of American forces in the region,” said Rubio, according to an official statement of the White House.
Israeli attacks, which have caused major damage to the Iranian nuclear programme and top military leaders, have been named by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah as an operation to continue.
For his part, Iran's supreme leader has warned Israel of a “severe punishment” following these attacks, stressing the rise of tensions in the region.
“Israel informed us that they believe this action was necessary for his self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel”, Rubio said. /Periscope/
