26 years ago, NATO's military mission in Kosovo began, KFOR.
To that end, the country declared June 12th as the Day of Peace, which concerns the day of liberation.
In this case, German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde wrote in his account at “BlueSky”, citing former British Defence Secretary/ NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, who had said: “The goal was for Milosevic's forces to leave, NATO to enter and refugees return”.
“Mission complete. Kosovo declared independence in 2008 and is a success story. Germany is and remains among Kosovo's closest partners”, Rohde said. /Periscopi/
