The agency's spokesman, Mahmoud Bassal, told the AFP that in addition to the 20 people killed, more than 200 people were injured “after Israel opened fire”, adding that the wounded were sent to a Red Cross field hospital in Han Yunis and to the Nazi hospital.
Bassal declared that people were waiting to reach a relief centre in Rafah “when invading forces opened fire”.
The Israeli army said it is verifying these reports.
Israel has imposed restrictions on international media in Gaza, and reports of victims from the civil protection agency are impossible to confirm independently.
According to the Gaza Civil Protection Agency, dozens of Palestinians have been killed trying to reach relief centres that have established the Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF) group supported by Israel and the United States and launched operation in late May.
This agency reported more than 20 deaths over the weekend. /Periscope/
