Kosovo's incumbent government plans for the construction of two new bridges over the Iber River in divided Mitrovica triggered sharp reactions among local Serbs, who see the move as political provocation rather than a means for connecting communities, writes Periscope.
The announcement of building these bridges has immediately prompted reactions from the EU and the Serbian List.
The former chief inspector of AKI, Burim Ramadani, has spoken on this matter for Periscope.
Ramadani told Periscopi that opening the main bridge has had to be part of an active Kosovo diplomacy that does not exist.
“S first, I think that the total absence of the main bridge of Ibri is absurd and without security arguments. As a matter addressed only politically, the complete opening of the main bridge has had to be part of an active Kosovo diplomacy that does not exist...”He said Periscope.
According to Ramadani, Kosovo should insist on implementing the Brussels agreement on the Bridge issue. But, according to him, the VVI's behavior in 2017 hurt NATO's confidence.
“ ...Kosovo should insist on implementing the Brussels agreement on the Bridge issue and do so in high-level dialogue with NATO. But VV's completely advanced behavior during the summer of 2024 has hurt trust with NATO...”, Ramadani has indicated.. / P ERISCOPI/
