The career ambassador, Sami Ukelli, has resigned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diasporas. The reasons for this resignation have to do with developments that have occurred over the past two years in the dictatorship led by Donika Gervalla.
In the letter of resignation, which the Nacional newspaper has secured, Ambassador Walker has indicated why he is leaving Kosovo's diplomatic service, broadcasts Periscope.
Four times Kosovo's ambassador has suggested that developments in the past two years in the MPJD have not been in line with the principles of professionalism.
According to him, these developments have created a reality incompatible with the standards he has defended and represented in his career.
“Despite my steadfast devotion, developments, especially in the past two years at the institution, have created an environment that, in my deep conviction, is no longer in line with the principles of professionalism and integrity and meritocracy. These developments constitute a reality incompatible with the standards I have defended and represented. Under these circumstances, I consider it honest and necessary to withdraw from the institution”, said in the resignation letter.
In his letter to MPJD Secretary-General Ilir Mucaj, Ukelli has suggested that his resignation has mind-shuffling.
“Throughout my career in diplomatic and institutional service as the first generation of career ambassadors, including four nominations as ambassador and office as First Director General of the Ministry I have been deeply devoted to dignified representation of the state, strengthening the country's international position and building capacities for the ministry.”, said in the letter that was delivered to the MPJD on 17 June.
Among other things, Ambassador Walker has told of the international assessments he has had for his diplomatic career.
“During this period, among other things, I have had the honour to contribute to the achievement of state recognitions from countries in the Pacific region, to the signing of the agreement for the opening of liaison offices in Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, as well as to be decorated with the highest order given by the president of the Republic of Austria for my contribution to the establishment and strengthening of bilateral reports. My work has also been praised by the international community, the Albanian diaspora and the staff I co-operated with, who I am grateful for their continued trust and support”, says the resignation letter.

Walker was from First Kosovo Republic career ambassadors.
By declaring independence, he has been four times the ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to different parts of the world.
So far, he has been Kosovo's ambassador to Bern, Switzerland.
During 2015-2020, Ukell has been Kosovo's ambassador to Vienna, Austria, in 2013-2015 was Kosovo's ambassador to Budapest, Hungary, and from 2010 to 2012, he has been Kosovo's ambassador to Tokyo, Japan.
Ambassador Ukell's departure confirms the Union Association of Foreign Service Members' concerns about the degradation of diplomatic staff that took place since the arrival of Donika Gervala at the helm of this dictatorship.
This union has repeatedly spread serious violations in the MPJD and political advances in Kosovo's diplomatic service, ignoring professionals and career diplomats.
