With banners in hand like “don't leave us without work” and “Do not favour import”, protesters are opposing the ZRE's decision to open the free electricity market, which went into effect on June 1st.
Organisers say this decision seriously harms the private sector and endangers thousands of jobs, as it exposes commercial consumers to unstable prices in the international energy market.
Images from the protests show hundreds of citizens and representatives of quiet but firm businesses towards the ERE facility, seeking to annul the decision and protect local producers.
