Notification:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora expresses deep concern over intensifying cases of arbitrary detentions and arrests of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo by the authorities in Serbia.
Under these circumstances, MPJD calls on all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, including those living in exiles and planning to travel towards Kosovo, to avoid crossing across border crossings with Serbia and at the same time, encourage all citizens to use other border points for their crossing.
The latest case of the detention of former Kosovo Police Officer, Mr. Spahiu at the border point between Serbia and Hungary is further evidence of Serbia's unacceptable and structural practices, which contradict international law and with basic standards for human rights protection.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora is closely following the situation and remains in continued communication with local institutions and international partners, with the goal of addressing these systematic violations and ensuring the rights and security of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
