This decision comes shortly after holding the PDK General Convention on 21 June, where Memli Krasniqi was re-elected to the party's helm. The process of selecting candidates is under way in line with the party statute and the Steering Council's decision.
“Based on the party statute and the decision of the Steering Council, PDK branches have the right to propose their candidates for mayors. These proposals are submitted to the centre, where the party's Headship makes the final decision, according to scheduled authorisations,” said the spokesman for the party. PDK, Faton Abdullahu.
He announced that all candidacys would be completed by mid-July, so that candidates can have sufficient time for preparations.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo plans to close all candidacies for mayors earlier than until mid-July. This allows candidates to have a three-month period for better preparation towards the 12 October elections,” added Abdullah.
Meanwhile, the re-elected chairman PDK, Memli Krasniqi, has stressed that the party aims to regain all municipalities where it is currently in government, as well as win in several other municipalities where, according to him, The PDK has tremendous potential.
