POLITIC DEATH
Pristina, 21 June 2025 Meeting at the Kosovo Democratic Party General Convention on 21 June 2025 after we received the votes of about 200,000 citizens who gave confidence to our party in the February 9th general elections, we reaffirmed our commitment to leading Kosovo towards sustainable development, strengthening democracy and full Euro-Atlantic integration.
This statement is a testament to our unity, a document that reveals strategic goals and calls every citizen to become an active part of national reform for powerful state, free society and developed economy.
1. The Democratic Party of Kosovo is the heir to the liberation, state-forming and fair fight of the Kosovo Liberation Army. The collective sacrifice, the blood of the fallen, the contribution of generations, and the vision of freedom and independence constitute the ideological cornerstone that compels us to act humbly toward the past and courageously toward the future. Protection of these values, as well as commitment to equal freedom and opportunity for all, are a permanent moral and political mission.
2. The outcome of the February 9th 2025 elections is a signal of hope, but above all the mandate of responsibility. The program he competed with The PDK instructs us to recover the economy, strengthen the rule of law and ensure real prosperity for every Kosovo family. The PDK considers individual freedom, open economy and rule of law as the foundation for comprehensive prosperity.
3. The PDK welcomes the upcoming local elections, which will be held on 12 October and has already begun mobilising all structures at any level of party organisation. Highly praising the hard work of the mayors from the PDK ranks, we pledge to offer citizens in all municipalities where we will compete the model of effective governance, perform and keep promises.
At the same time, The PDK seeks and commits urgently to establish central, legitimate and responsible institutions, which will take on political and civic responsibilities the task of Kosovo's governance and the orientation of the state towards stability, development and Euro-Atlantic integration, following the degradation and damage that has produced the past mandate.
4. The current governance has degraded political debate in insults and exclusion and has affected the extreme polarisation of society. We will restore dialogue as a political instrument in the function of seeking co-operation and political and institutional consensus, as mechanisms to promote and protect the interests of the state of Kosovo and its citizens.
5. Attacks on the justice system, media and independent agencies undermine trust in institutions and the state in general. The PDK engages in the independence of these sectors and considers that any attempt to dim these pillars of society violates the foundations of democracy and leads the country to autocratia.
6. The PDK expresses deep indignation over the way the judicial process is conducted in the Specialised Chambers towards Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and other indictees.
By being convinced of their complete innocence, we consider that maintaining them, for more than four and a half years in custody, constitutes a flagrant violation of the standards of Western justice, standards we have believed would be strictly respected by this court.
Unjustified exhumation of procedures and deviation from basic standards of international criminal law constitutes serious violations of the rights of the accused and violates the legitimacy of the process.
The PDK calls for accelerating procedures in line with the principle of fair judgment and within a reasonable deadline, full transparency and strict respect of international standards of justice, particularly the European Convention for Human Rights.
7. The PDK estimates that European integration is our strategic orientation and partnership with the European Union is vital for peace building and development in the region. In view of our firm commitment to move as quickly as possible towards the EU, we call on EU institutions to lift the penalties imposed on Kosovo. These measures, which the PDK has described from the beginning as unfair, burden our citizens and hinder the economic and social dynamism that Europe itself intends to promote.
The PDK guarantees it will work decisively to meet all European standards, strengthen rule of law and advance constructive dialogue with neighbours.
8. NATO integration is a guarantee of collective security. The PDK is committed to turning Kosovo back on its own strategic road, towards a coalition-oriented foreign policy, an internal policy responsible for national security and defence, as investment in sovereignty, credibility and a secure future.
So, The PDK commits to restore strategic alignment with NATO and the US, strengthening co-operation and involvement in regional security architecture; positioning Kosovo as a contributor to stability in Southeast Europe, strengthening internal military capacities and consolidating the entire security sector.
This includes fully approaching policies and defence planning with NATO standards, intensifying co-operation with American defence institutions, advancing Kosovo's role in regional mechanisms promoting peace and stability, and active participation of our military in international peacekeeping missions, in line with our common commitments and values with allies.
9. Within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, we will seek the restoration of the goal for final, legally binding and internationally guaranteed agreements, focused on mutual recognition, in order to open the chapter of peace and Euro-Atlantic integration of the entire region.
10. The PDK is deeply concerned by the heavy economic situation and the increasing difficulties citizens are facing. Prices are rising and citizens are getting worse, businesses are closing down, new investments are stalled, the trade deficit is expanding, public money is being spent without generating economic growth and citizens are leaving the country.
Therefore, it is time for an economic rebirth that requires a fundamental change in the governing mentality, creating real conditions for economic development by supporting the private sector, improving economic freedom, enabling free competition, protecting workers' rights, and, most importantly, restoring citizens' trust that they can live better in Kosovo.
11. To ensure sustainable economic development and national security, Kosovo must take decisive steps towards energy independence, diversification of resources, including natural gas use, investing in renewable energy and strengthening local production capacities.
Twelve. The PDK is concerned with continued environmental degradation and will commit to a green transition of economy and household in Kosovo, including promoting projects promoting efficient use of energy.
13. The PDK engages in full health modernisation because a contemporary health system, with the patient in the centre, is duty to citizens. Also, The PDK engages in a modern and qualitative educational system that enables our students and students to compete in the region and beyond, in all areas. So we pledge sweeping reform that modernizes curriculums, strengthens digital skills and enhances the quality of teaching.
Above all, The PDK engages that all public sector employees have salaries that provide well-being and dignity for them and their families;
The PDK pledges special moral and financial care for war-free categories, as well as for pensioners and other categories supported by the state budget, in order to ensure well-being and dignity, them and their families.
14. The PDK is committed to empowering women and young people, considering this necessary effort for the inclusive and sustainable development of society. Our goal is equal gender representation: 50/50 at all decision-making levels.
The PDK believes that only one society where each individual has the potential to realise its potential, without social and institutional barriers, is truly democratic and representative. The creation and strengthening of mechanisms that empower women and young people is not only the moral obligation but also the necessary action to develop the full potential and human capital of our state.
15. The PDK is united, strong and determined to lead Kosovo towards a secure and developed future. We invite every citizen, in Kosovo and on the Mrgata, to join us on this mission of hope and development for the present and future of the Republic of Kosovo./Periscopi/
