Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has reacted to the recent arrest of former police officer Arbnor Spahiu.
According to Osmani, the arrests of our citizens by Serbian authorities during crossing the border are arbitrary actions, similar to those of chauvinists of the years BAR90s.
The arrests of our citizens by Serbian authorities during crossing the border are arbitrary acts, similar to the chauvinists of the 1990s. Serbia is not interested in either human rights or international conventions or European standards. As evidenced daily and more, the only mind that suits it is that of past-spirit dictatorships. Such is the arrest of Kosovo's citizen, Arbnor Spahiu, on entirely false grounds and charges. This act has nothing to do with rule of law, but the continuation of the old practices of a regime that refuses to face the past and misuse the law to threaten our citizens”, Osmani wrote.
According to Osmani, Serbia should immediately stop its campaign of political arrests against Kosovo citizens.
Serbia must immediately stop its campaign of political arrests against Kosovo citizens and be held accountable internationally for its arbitrary actions. These actions not only hinder freedom of movement but also endanger any efforts to dialogue and normalise relations. In recent days, in addition to continuing contacts with the Interconnection Office of the Republic of Kosovo in Belgrade, we have also called for the strong response of the Quint states and the EU Mission, so that these human rights violations on the part of Serbia are not ignored” are said further in response.
At the same time, I repeat the call to our citizens to avoid going through Serbia, being aware of arbitrary practices of the arrests without reason, as well as of the destabilising trends of this state, Osmani has added. /Periscopi/
