The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, on the fourteenth anniversary of his separation from life, recalled Nekibe Kelmendi, whom he named Kosovo's <x0 most operational”.
Today, we commemorate with awe and gratitude the woman who was never conquered, neither pain nor crueler injustice. Nekibe Kelmendi was not just politician, not just minister or deputy. It was the voice of justice in times when injustice ruled, it was the force of reason when all around us tried to remove from terror. She was a mother, wife, but, above all, the devoted daughter of Kosovo who never stopped the battle for freedom, democracy and justice. So today, we remember politician Nekibe Kelmendi, the justice minister, the Kosovo Parliament deputy, LDK deputy head, and Kosovo's great activist”, Abdixhiku said.
“Nekibe Kelmendi made early entry into the resistance movement, such as the Democratic League of Kosovo activist and the fighter for the protection of human rights and freedoms. She left a lasting impression as a steadfast activist of the national issue, political activist, lawyer, justice minister's deputy,”, he added.
Abdixhiku recalled that Kelmendi “in her heart bore pain that few who could afford, the loss of her husband, Bajram, and their two sons, Kastriot and Condition, murdered cruelly by the savage regime of Milosevich”.
But instead of breaking, she stood up. Her pain turned to strength, her wound to ideal, and her life into a daily battle for building a free and just state. So despite her spiritual wounds, she designed the ideal for independence and democracy, continuing the cause of statehood even more powerful”, he wrote.
LDK chairman wrote that “Nekibe Kelmendi was and remained a staunch associate of President Historical Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, on the road to the construction of Kosovo state”.
“On every step, it left behind values, courage and dignity. This anniversary of all the time when we recall her life and work, the pattern of the woman who inspired her generations shows us that the ideal of freedom has the prize of life. Glory forever, the work and sacrifice of Nekibe Kelmendi!”/Periscopi/
