Former general doctor Arne Bye has been convicted of 70 counts of rape and sexual assault. He was also convicted of 82 counts of abuse of his position as a doctor, Norwegian media reported.
Almost all the criminal acts occurred during medical examinations conducted by Bye while working as a physician in the small town of Frosta a small community of fewer than 3,000 people, near Tronding on the western coast of Norway, reports BBC, broadcast Periscope.
Bye was also banned from practicing medical work and was ordered to pay compensation.
The court had discussed a long indictment, which included charges covering nearly two decades in connection with 94 women, according to Norwegian media.
Bye was found guilty of some of the crimes and also acquitted of a number of charges.
