Initially, prosecutor Ilir Morina said all legal conditions have been met for maintaining trial in the absence of 53 indictees, reports “Justice Trust “, broadcast Periscope.
The prosecutor said that international orders have been issued to the accused by judges of the preliminary procedure for their security.
Morina sought to develop judgment by overall respecting fundamental rights and freedoms.
Later, case judge Violet Namani-Haira said the Court has taken legal action, publishing the invitation and indictment on the tribunal's website. But, he added, none of the accused are present.
According to her, the court is convinced that efforts have been made to secure the accused, so the Court made the decision to keep the trial in absentia.
The accused will be protected from their defenders during the trial.
Later, prosecutor Ilir Morina read the indictment, while Judge Naman-Hajra announced that the accused within the 30-day deadline could make opposition to evidence and request to drop the indictment.
