German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said President Donald Trump is the key “person to bring an end to the war in Ukraine “putting pressure on Russia”.
“We both agree on this war and how terrible it is going on, and we're both looking for ways to stop it very quickly. And I told the president (Trump)... he's the key person in the world who can really do this right now by putting pressure on Russia.”, he said Merz during the meeting at the White House.
The German leader reiterated his country's steadfast commitment to Ukraine, adding that horrible images from the battlefield were caused by the Russian “arms against Ukraine”.
“Ukraine is only targeting military targets, not civilians, not energy infrastructure. So that's the difference and that's why we're trying to do more against Russia.”, Merz added.
