In office Prime Minister Albin Kurti, yesterday during the cabinet meeting, has said there are warnings of destabilisation in Vidovdan's footnote -- this religious holiday, traditionally organised by Serbs on June 28th in Gazimestan. Kurti said that although this day has religious character, it has unfortunately been misused by Belgrade authorities to convey political, promotional and threatening rhetoric to public security in Kosovo.
Official Belgrade that is facing worldwide student protests and is not only trying to shift attention elsewhere. In this effort to reduce the size of the antigovernmental and anti-regimation protest on the same day in Belgrade, power in Serbia can exploit destructive elements to spur incidents in Gazimenstan”, Kurti said.
He further said that, according to estimates from Kosovo's security and intelligence institutions, efforts are being made for the rally in Gazimestan to be as massive as possible. The prime minister said groups of Serbs from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been organised to come to Kosovo, and that these groups have traditionally been provocative by carrying nationalist Serb and Russian symbols that contradict the Constitution and are also against democratic and European values.
“We call on all of our fellow citizens, especially among the Serb community in Kosovo to respect the law and refuse to be misused for political purposes. We call on all our countrymen not to fall prey to any provocation by anyone on tomorrow's”, Kurti stressed.
He said gatherings for Vidovdan's footnote should be organised in full compliance with the law.
“subventions for Vidovdan's footnote should be organised in full compliance with the law and not turn into a tool for political instrumentisation by the authorities in Belgrade, which tend to export the internal political crisis through provocations in Kosovo, only to be introduced later as a patron of their national and Serb interests in Kosovo through propagandistic and kler-nationalist laro. The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are committed to guaranteeing the rights and freedoms of all communities and will not tolerate actions that violate, order security and public peace in Kosovo”, he said. / RTK/
