I just spoke to Iranian President Massoud POSkian.

My first message was to seek the immediate release of our countrymen, Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, who have been held hostage by the Iranian regime under unacceptable conditions for more than three years.

In light of the serious risk of destabilisation throughout the region, I called for our diplomatic facilities and citizens in Iran and the wider region to be targeted under any circumstances. I also called for maximum content to avoid escalation.

Iran's nuclear programme is a serious concern and must be resolved through negotiations.

Therefore, I invited the president of PESkian to return quickly to the negotiating table to reach a deal the only sustainable way to de-progress.

We are willing to contribute and mobilise all our efforts to achieve that goal.
