Britain and its allies will officially impose sanctions on far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, due to their stance on the war in Gaza, the Times reported today.
London will follow the example of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries in freezing assets and setting up travel bans on Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir a colonist from the West Coast and Finance Minister Smotric.
Britain's Foreign Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Britain, like other European countries, has stepped up pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to end the humanitarian aid blockade by the Israeli government at the Gaza Strip, which is on the verge of hunger, according to international experts.
British diplomacy even summoned the Israeli ambassador and announced further sanctions against the settlers of the West Coast.
Foreign Minister David Lamy , who called the escalation of the Israeli offensive in recent weeks “a new dark phase in this conflict”, has earlier condemned Smotrich's statements about Gaza's possible cleansing and destruction and displacement of its inhabitants to third countries. /Periscope/
