Kosovo's state-run anthem today turns 17 years out of approval in the 120-member Assembly that had declared independence on February 17th 2008.
The proposal, dubbed “Europa”, was approved on June 11th 2008 in a separate session of state anthem by 72 votes, 15 against and 5 abstentions.
When author Mendi Mengqi's melody was proposed, the anthem also had written verses, but because of the remittances from former President Martti Ahtisaari's package, the selection commission had been forced to remove the text.
