Kosovo remains a new country: For every three births, one death in 2024

Kosovo has scored a stable demographic year in 2024, with a favourable report between births and deaths. According to official data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency, only one death has been recorded for every three births, witnessing a positive trend of natural population growth. A total of 31,717 easts were registered during 2024, of which 21,487 occurred within Kosovo territory and 10,230 abroad. The dominant group of mothers was 25-34, while the average age of a woman born was 29 years old. The municipality with the highest birth rate was Pristina with 10,746 cases (33.9%).
Meanwhile, the number of deaths during the year was 11,810, of which 10,137 occurred in the country, and 1,673 were reported by the diaspora. Males accounted for 52.5% of deaths, while the average age of the deceased was 72 years old for men and 74 for women. Even in this category, Pristina leads with 2,795 cases (23.7%).
